Avoiding Boredom at Home This Summer

Avoiding Boredom at Home This Summer

Summer is coming up soon and while many people are planning vacations, not everyone has the opportunity to travel away from home. Whether you can’t get time off from work, want to avoid traveling with your young children, or simply don’t have the money to go anywhere for a summer getaway, you don’t have to forgo your summer fun entirely.

Staying at home during summer can lead to boredom if you’re not sure what to do. So instead of letting yourself get in a slump, plan for a nice relaxing vacation right in your own home. Learn some different ways to keep yourself occupied this vacation season.

Resort-Style Refreshments

Take a break from your normal meals and try something new to spice things up. You may not be going to any fancy resorts or hotels with five-star restaurants, but that doesn’t mean you can’t experience delicious food and other refreshments that will allow you to relax and have fun.

Don’t be afraid to splurge a little on some deluxe cuisine at a nice restaurant. With the money you save by staying home rather than going on an actual vacation, you can try something more upscale that you might not usually be able to get. You can even make a special night out of dressing up and going out to a classy place for dinner. Of course, you don’t have to go super fancy. You can simply go out to your favorite restaurant or order your favorite takeout if that’s more your speed. This is your “staycation,” so decide what would make you the happiest.

To really bring the resort feeling to your home, try your hand at making some delicious cocktails. There are plenty of tutorials and recipes online that you can search for, so think of what drinks you already like and see what sounds tasty to you. Or you can try something completely new! If you’re not too sure about your drink-mixing abilities, don’t worry. You can always try some different pre-made mixes or just some bottled or canned drinks instead.

To really relax and enjoy your at-home vacation, you can always get a good stash of cannabis. Make sure you check the laws where you live of course, but if it’s all legal, there’s no harm in indulging in a little marijuana to help you get into the mellow summer mood. Try a new variety like the kush mints strain, purchase some infused candy, or make your own edibles at home.

Beat The Heat

While many people enjoy the summer heat, no one likes being too hot. If you’re stuck at home during summer, you might be tempted to simply stay inside away from the heat, but there are plenty of ways to cool off and have fun at the same time.

You can always go to a public or community pool if there are any in your area. Look up your options and see what kind of prices or memberships they have. If you have kids (or just want to go yourself) you could also look into spending a day at a waterpark. Have fun on the waterslides, relax while you float down a lazy river, or just cool down in the different pool areas.

If you really don’t want to go anywhere, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a cooling day in the water. There are plenty of ways you can bring the waterpark to you, just by using things you probably already have. Make a homemade slip n’ slide or sprinkler, or just buy a cheap inflatable pool to soak in. Grab some ice cream or popsicles, make sure to put on plenty of sunscreen, and have a fun day.

Unwind Yourself

While you may not be at a fancy resort and spa, you can still pamper yourself as if you are. Turn your bathroom into a temporary relaxation spot and give yourself a spa day to decompress and treat yourself.

Baths are a fantastic way to relax and feel like you’re on a great vacation. Try out some different products like bubble bath soap, bath bombs, or aromatherapy oils and candles. Put on some music, lock the door, and clear your mind to focus simply on yourself and your relaxation. Baths can also help with any muscle or joint soreness and stiffness, so you’ll feel so much better afterward.

During or after your bath, you can also try out some classic spa treatments like face masks, creams, scrubs, and moisturizers. Face masks in particular can be both relaxing and also helpful for your skin. Depending on the ingredients certain masks can brighten your skin, help with acne and blackheads, or even help with wrinkles. You don’t have to worry about spending a fortune on products, though. There are plenty of masks and other skincare products you can make yourself with natural but commonplace ingredients.

Vacations can be a great way to have fun and relax, but they can also be expensive and sometimes very stressful. So to avoid the cost and anxiety, a vacation at home may be the perfect choice for you. You can decide how your whole vacation goes without being limited to resort or hotel offers and limitations. Have fun no matter what you do on your vacation and remember to focus on relaxing and recharging before going back to your day-to-day.
