en downhill to Matrei with a magnificent vieFrom Mittersill in the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region, the toll Felbertauernstraße winds its way up to around 1600 meters above sea level, thw of the Hohe Tauern . The town lies in a wide valley, guarded by three-thousanders. In Lienz , it’s worth taking a break on the main square, which exudes southern flair with its palm-lined street cafés.
Then the Lienz Dolomites are circumnavigated: through the Gailtal, the tranquil Lesachtal and back along the Drau. Behind the Iselsberg Pass, the Mölltal leads to the picturesque Alpine village of Heiligenblut , above which the flanks of the Grossglockner tower. The highlight at the end: the trip on the toll Grossglockner High Alpine Road . It nestles over 48 kilometres with 36 hairpin bends in the mountain landscape. Through the Salzach valley it goes back to Mittersill.
Salzburg Country
Impressive mountain scenery, fantastic panoramic roads and an idyllic lake landscape characterize the northern Salzburger Land. A detour to Bavaria in the Berchtesgadener Land rounds off the motorcycle tour.
The old salt town of Hallein with its colorful town houses is the starting point of this circular tour, which takes you through winding mountain passes, towering mountains, crystal-clear lakes and pretty towns. Three lakes invite you to stop for a swim in the Salzkammergut: Fuschlsee , Mondsee and Wolfgangsee . The Postalm panorama road , which is subject to a toll, runs between Strobl and Abtenau through a wide alpine landscape with a wonderful view.
Behind Bischofshofen, the winding Dientner Sattel and Filzensattel passes are a challenge for bikers. The route leads via Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer and Lofer with a view of the Loferer Steinberge to Ramsau , famous for its postcard view of the parish church of St. Sebastian. In Berchtesgaden , the salt mines are worth a visit and at the Königssee at the foot of the Watzmann, the detour to the Malerwinkel is worthwhile, before you return to Hallein with breathtaking views over the Rossfeld panorama road , which is subject to a toll.
Styria
Enjoyment in two senses is offered by a ride on low-traffic roads through hilly southern Styria, which promises scenic beauty and culinary temptations.
It starts in Graz , which is considered the capital of indulgence and whose enchanting historic old town deserves a visit. Through Styrian Tuscany you can reach the South Styrian Wine Route near Spielfeld and along it wine villages such as Gamlitz, Leutschach and Arnfels.
Between Eibiswald and Lavamünd, the winding pass road Soboth is the highlight for motorcyclists. The pass road over the Koralpe , which climbs up to 1670 meters , also promises plenty of curve fun . It leads from Wolfsberg, above which a stately castle rises, to Deutschlandsberg on the Schilcher Wine Route, whose landmark is the medieval castle. Graz is soon reached again via Stainz , which is idyllically embedded in forest and meadows .
