Italy of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe and has the most beautiful places to discover and explore. Who would not want to have a beautiful house somewhere in Italy one could ask. Notwithstanding its popularity, fortunately, there are many places in Italy where buyers can still pick up a cheap property.

There are indeed various pretty historic villages with thousands of cheap houses for sale in Italy. Some of the cheapest places to buy property are listed below.

Calabria

Calabria is located in south west Italy and most of the region is hilly with mountainous areas. It is known for its beaches and the Tyrrhenian Sea on the west coast, and on the east coast, there is the Leonian Sea.

Property is quite reasonably priced here and you can get a nice 2-bedroom apartment for an average price of 50,000 EUR,  while some properties can even be bought for as little as 35,000 EUR.

Basilicata

Basilicata is a region of mountains and forests in southern Italy. It is famous for its mountains and great swathes of white sand and archaeological parks. The place is also famous for many traditional dishes like Spezatino and di Agnello.

There are various low-cost seafront apartments in Basilicata. The price depends of course on the area but outside the center of the city, prices are very affordable, and you can buy property for 40,000 EUR.

Molise

Third on our list is Molise, which is a mountainous Italian region on the Adriatic Sea. It is considered a very attractive area to invest in real estate because of the low prices compared to the rest of Italy. Molise is away from tourist radar and considered the second smallest region of Italy.

It is a mountainous region and has various mountain villages. The price of land near villages starts at around 9,000 EUR. You can even buy houses in Molise for as low as 3,000 EUR.

Abruzzo

Abruzzo is the second largest region of Italy after Tuscany. It is considered one of the least expensive regions in Italy and indeed Europe for property investment. This place is well renowned for its wine and famous for its beautiful lakes and natural springs.

There are spectacular skiing and hiking trails in Abruzzo within the many mountains and national parks. Property prices are incredibly cheap here. The prices in the centre of the city for a new apartment can have a higher cost while in a smaller town the price of houses tend to be very affordable.  You can find a property with a garage here for as little 20,000 EUR and the cost of land is also very affordable.

Bisaccia

Bisaccia is an Italian town situated in the province of Avellino. It is 95km from Naples and is located in southern Italy. This town is located at the top of two hills, and there are many abandoned homes in this town that are available at extremely low prices.

Although the cheapest houses require some renovation, as a buyer you will made to feel most welcome by the locals. One of the reasons for the extremely low price in this area is the very low population so demand is not high.

You can buy property here even for 4,000 EUR in some towns in Bisaccia. Some houses in good condition are available for a very reasonable 20,000 EUR.
