Car games are a great way to pass the time on a road trip. Here are 10 of the best car games you can play:
- I Spy – This classic game is perfect for passing the time on a long car journey. Take it in turns to spy something outside the car, and then everyone else has to guess what it is.
- The License Plate Game – See how many different license plates you can spot on your travels. You can either try to spot all 50 states, or just keep track of how many different plates you see in total.
- 20 Questions – Think of an object, person or place and then let your fellow passengers take turns asking you up to 20 questions to try and guess what it is.
- Road Trip Bingo – Print out some bingo cards before you set off (you can find plenty of free printables online) and tick off items as you spot them on your journey. First person to get a full line or Bingo wins!
- Would You Rather? – A great game for sparking conversation, simply take it in turns asking each other “would you rather” questions. For example: would you rather have superhuman strength or the ability to fly?
- Word Ladder – One person starts by saying a word, then the next person has to say a word that begins with the last letter of the first word, and so on until someone gets stuck. For example: cat, tar, rat, tag…
- The Alphabet Game – Similar to Word Ladder, but this time you have to name things in alphabetical order instead of making words. So starting with “A” you might say “apple”, “B” could be “boat” and so on…
- Two Truths and a Lie – Take it in turns telling three facts about yourself, one of which is not true. Everyone else then has to guess which one is the lie!
- Counting Cars – Pick a color of car and see how many of them you can spot during your journey. Keep count separately for each color and whoever spots the most at the end wins!
10 .I’m Going On A Picnic– Going round in a circle, each player takes it in turns naming an item that they would take on a picnic e.g., “I’m going on a picnic and I’m taking bread” The next player then has to repeat all previous items before adding their own e.g., “I’m going on a picnic and I’m taking bread, cheese, and a blanket” If someone forgets an item or repeats one then they are out!
These are just a few of the many car games you can play on a road trip to make the journey more fun.
So next time you’re setting off on a long journey, be sure to pack some snacks and drinks, print out some bingo cards or would you rather ask questions, and enjoy spending time with your fellow passengers playing some of these great games!
